Sector Response
For examples of how community foundations, private foundations, corporate giving programs and family foundations are responding to the crisis, visit the U.S. International Grantmaking project's Haiti Disaster Response page.
Council on Foundations President/CEO Steve Gunderson sent a letter to IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman requesting declaration of a "qualified disaster." This would allow employer-sponsored private foundations and employer-connected funds held by public charities to provide assistance to employees affected by the disaster and their families.
