What is the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance?
Indiana Grantmakers Alliance (IGA) is a nonprofit membership association serving the state's community, corporate, family, independent, operating, private and public foundations, as well as corporate giving programs. IGA's mission is to advance philanthropy by promoting legal, ethical, effective and efficient grantmaking. IGA supports its members through advocacy, education, networking and information.

Does IGA make grants?
No, IGA does not make grants.

Can you direct me to funders that might be interested in funding my proposal?
No. Although IGA members must be grantmaking organizations, IGA itself is not a grantmaking organization, nor does it direct funding applicants to particular grantmakers or promote grants to specific applicants.

Where can I get a list of IGA members?

Who can become a member of IGA?
Membership is open to any nonprofit corporation or trust, a principal function of which is the making of charitable grants, and which either has its principal office in the State of Indiana or makes substantial grants for charitable purposes in Indiana; or any for-profit corporation which makes grants for charitable purposes in Indiana. The Board may from time to time further define the criteria for membership. How do I join IGA?

Can I attend an IGA program?
Most IGA programs are open to all foundations and corporate giving program representatives, regardless of membership in IGA. However, members receive a substantial discount in registration fees. To register for an event, visit our calendar of events or call (317) 630-5200.

What is GIFT?
The GIFT program (Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow) is the technical assistance component of Lilly Endowment Inc.’s community foundation initiative. It is housed in the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance Foundation. Learn more about GIFT.

What is the Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana (YPII)?
Indiana Grantmakers Alliance Foundation hosts YPII, which is a statewide network of 40+ partner organizations with the common goal of engaging youth in giving and serving within their communities. YPII provides technical assistance to grantmakers with an interest in youth philanthropy. See YPII's website.
