This national webinar will cover legal issues that can arise for foundations and nonprofits using online social media (e.g., social networks, blogs, wikis, and audio/video depositories). Learn how to use these tools to advance your organization's mission while managing associated legal liability through employee and member guidelines and policies, user agreements, disclaimers, licenses, and other risk allocation strategies.
While this is a complex, diverse, and still-developing area of law, it is critical for nonprofit organizations to understand these basics in order to avoid costly mistakes and effectively deploy social media to advance their missions and goals.
Speakers
A.J. Zottola, a Technology Transactions Group partner at Venable LLP (one of America's top 100 law firms with more than 600 nonprofit clients nationwide), focuses his practice on the exploitation of intellectual property and intangible and technology assets in business and strategic relationships. He frequently works with association and nonprofit clients in connection with their technology-related contracts and transactions and in protecting their intellectual property.
Lisa M. Hix, an associate with Venable LLP in its Nonprofit Organizations Practice Group, concentrates her practice on counseling charities, trade and professional associations, and other nonprofits on a wide range of legal topics, including tax exemption, intellectual property, and corporate governance.
