Indiana Grantmakers Alliance is hosting its second annual local version of Foundations on the Hill (FOTH) Tuesday, March 2, 2010. The purpose of Indiana FOTH is to continue the dialogue between foundations and the members of Indiana's General Assembly. In the current climate, strengthening our relationships with legislators is of great importance and benefit. This year we have prepared two valuable educational presentations that will bolster your understanding of how and why foundations can and should speak to their legislators and other influentials.

Indiana FOTH Attendees will:

  • receive a primer on Advocacy Dos & Don'ts for Community & Private Foundations from Baker & Daniels LLP Attorney, Joe Miller;
  • hear from this year's keynote speaker, Mark Sedway of Philanthropy Awareness Initiative, who will discuss the Importance of Targeted Messages to Elected Officials and lead you in an educational exercise to draft such messages;
  • observe the proceedings of our state legislature; and
  • share stories and concerns with Indiana legislators.
