Gary is the Chief Financial Officer of Welborn Baptist Foundation,
Inc. serving fourteen counties in Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois.
He earned his Bachelors of Science degree in accounting from
the University of Evansville and is currently licensed as
a certified public accountant.
Gary has a long history of employment in accounting within
the health care industry. Following his graduation in 1975,
Gary moved to Bloomington where he held the positions of Accounting
Supervisor and later Internal Auditor with Bloomington Hospital.
At the end of 1998, he returned to Evansville after accepting
the position of Accounting Manager with Welborn Baptist Hospital,
Inc. He later was promoted to Controller.
In 1990, Gary’s career took a slight change in direction
when he accepted the position of Finance Director with Welborn
Health Plans, Inc. Welborn Health Plans was a health insurance
company owned and operated by Welborn Clinic, Inc. a for-profit
100 physician clinic located across the street from Welborn
Baptist Hospital, Inc. Within his first year of employment
Gary was appointed Finance Director over the Welborn Clinic,
Inc. in addition to his responsibilities with the Welborn
Health Plans.
During March of 1999, St. Mary’s Medical Center purchased
substantially all of the assets of Welborn Baptist Hospital,
Inc. From the proceeds of that sale, Welborn Baptist Foundation,
Inc. was created. In October, 2000, Gary accepted the Chief
Financial Officer position with Welborn Baptist Foundation,
Inc.
Gary and his wife Cindy, have three grown children. Seth
resides in Evansville where he teaches English and coaches
three sports at Evansville Harrison High School. Nathan resides
in Indianapolis where he works within the graphics design
industry. Their daughter Jessica is a senior at Ball State
working on an Art Degree.
