What is the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance?
The Indiana Grantmakers Alliance is a professional association for foundation executives, staff, and board members. We educate, advocate, and bring people together around philanthropy. It is the resource for information about grantmaking in the state.

Does the Alliance make grants?
No. The Alliance does not make grants. However, you may purchase a directory of all the grantmakers in the state. Find out more about the Directory of Indiana Grantmakers.

What can the Alliance do for me as a grantmaker?
Alliance members receive a host of benefits as part of their membership. Learn more about becoming a Member of the Alliance.

What can the Alliance do for me as a grant seeker?
As an associate member, grant seekers receive several benefits as part of their membership. Learn more about becoming an Associate Member of the Alliance.

What can the Alliance do for me as a job seeker?
The Alliance maintains a current list of employment opportunities within Indiana foundations and various nonprofit organizations.

Who can join the Alliance?
Most foundations and corporate giving programs are eligible for membership. General criteria include:

  • All grantmakers must make grants to multiple external grantees, rather than a single organization (e.g., university, school or hospital foundation).
  • Grants should not be made primarily to pre-selected grantee organizations (e.g., federated funds).
  • Grantmakers located outside Indiana are eligible for membership if they make grants to recipients in Indiana.
  • There is no membership requirement for a minimum amount of assets or grants made.

How do I join the Alliance?
To become a member of the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance, complete the Membership Application and return it to the Alliance office or contact the Alliance directly at (317) 630-5200 or membership@indianagrantmakers.org.

Does the Alliance have a mailing list? How do I get on the list?
All members and associate members are included on the Alliance mailing list. To find out more information about becoming a member, visit our Membership section.

Can I attend an Alliance program?
Most Alliance programs are open to all foundations and corporate giving program representatives, regardless of membership in the Alliance. However, members receive a substantial discount in registration fees. To register for an event, please email registration@indianagrantmakers.org or call (317) 630-5200.
